Bailey Garage Doors

Bailey Garage Doors, Inc. gave me a fun project. They’re my absolute favorite sort of client: They wanted whatever I thought looked good and approved the first mockup I submitted with no qualifications.

Client

Bailey Garage Doors, Inc. (via BLaST Creative – Billings, Montana)

Inspiration

I started with a color palette and a font. One of my first steps was to redraw their logo, very slightly deconstructed, and I used their signature blue to create a set of compound colors. Then, the Birth of a Hero font, from dafont.com is a bit more on the deconstructed side, reminiscent of the Avicii logo, and wonderfully edgy/post-modern.

Behind the Scenes

I made pretty extensive use of some still-experimental CSS3 effects in this theme. The gradient, banner-style headers employ a CSS gradient background image. The slightly sunken text effects were done with dual CSS text shadows using RGB alpha property values. Once again, I leaned on the Gantry Framework to take most of the fuss out of the development process, allowing me to focus on aesthetics rather than PHP.
